| The construction of Tiznit goes back to 1882 after the military expedition of the sultan Hassan I in the region of Sous. |
The need to create Tiznit was dictated by the will to plant a military station in order to control the back country, and to counter any European penetration from the Atlantic.
As all the great defence works of Morocco, the enclosure of Tiznit was raised following the model of the fortifications of the Moroccan cities.
The interior of the city is divided into districts. The housings are also of traditional type and point out, for certain residences, the riads of Marrakech.
